2013 Las Madres Carneros Syrah

From a very cool climate region.  Lots of smoked meat and earthiness., very savory.  Then comes the dark fruit with chocolate and black pepper.  A medium bodied Syrah with soft tannins.

Winemaker notes

Las Madres is the vineyard I’ve worked with the longest and the fruit is spectacular.  67% whole cluster, again through the gentle foot treading of my daughters.  Co-fermented with 3% Viognier, it was cold soaked for 5 days prior to fermentation.   Fermentation was completed in 10 days then to barrel.  1/3 new French oak, natural malolactic fermentation and racked off the lees in March. In barrel for 20 months.
